The OSCTR Clinical Research Toolkit site is currently in beta development, but we wanted to make it available to users to help facilitate researchers. We also welcome suggestions from users about features and information you would find helpful on the site. Over the next few months, we will be adding additional information to each category.

ECHO Grant Awarded to OUHSC

The OCTSI has partnered with the OUHSC Department of Pediatrics and been awarded a grant from the National Institutes of Health to develop the Oklahoma Pediatric Clinical Trial Network. This network will be part of the IDeA States Pediatric Clinical Trials Network that is participating in the Environmental Impacts of Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) Program to effectively investigate the impacts of environmental exposures from the womb through later years in a child’s life. The Principal Investigator of this award is Dr. Paul Darden, Chief of General and Community Pediatrics at OUHSC.

EvidenceNOW Grant Initiative Provides Support for Primary Care Practices in Oklahoma to Advance Cardiovascular Care

Heart disease remains the number one cause of death in the United States, claiming more lives than all cancers combined. Heart disease is also taking a toll on Oklahoma. But the evidence is clear—we can reduce the threat by applying the ABCS of cardiovascular disease prevention: Aspirin use by high-risk individuals, Blood pressure control, Cholesterol management, and Smoking cessation.

The week's program features OUHSC research leaders discussing science and medicine in Oklahoma. Dr. Judith James, the Principal Investigator of the Oklahoma Shared Clinical and Translational Resources discusses the Oklahoma Clinical and Translational Science Institute and our projects. 

 

OCTSI receives $15 million grant to improve heart health in Oklahoma

Researchers with the University of Oklahoma in Tulsa and Oklahoma City have received a $15 million grant to improve heart health in residents throughout the state.

OU is one of seven grantees in the nation for the award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

OU President David Boren said at a press conference in Tulsa on Wednesday morning that the grant will allow researchers to work with primary care physicians across Oklahoma to determine best practices for preventing heart disease and improving heart health.
